The String Railway Collection

We’ve got a game here that’s accessible, that’s funny, that’s thematic, that’s deep, and that can take any number of players. It’s a good game that you’ll never ever regret that you buy

Originally published in 2009, and designed by the renowned Hisashi Hayashi (Yokohama, Trains, Metro X), String Railway quickly captured the hearts of the board gaming public. This 20 minute, tactile, two to five player game let players create their own map directly onto the table, complete with borders, mountains and rivers, and then build within it a vibrant, ever-growing network of railways, all made out of string.

Following in 2011, the sequel String Railway: Transport (now renamed String Railway: Cubed) combined the irresistible premise of Sting Railway with the crunchy, weighty decision making of games like Railways of the World, producing an accessible mid-weight 45 minute game. Players start with a map of stations already built, and must balance the desire to upgrade their engines and fulfil delivery contracts with the need to quickly build a flexible train network that can transport goods to a range of destinations.

The String Railway Collection packs both of these standalone games into a convenient, small-box package, allowing you to cater to all ranges of age and experience with a single box. It features vibrant updated artwork, improved graphic design, and a refined ruleset.

Play For Keeps will be launching a Kickstarter for The String Railway Collection later this year as part of a single campaign alongside the critically acclaimed trick-taking game My Favourite Things.
